The Use of Compost Tea in a Containerized Urban Tree Nursery Shows No Evident Benefits to Tree Growth or Mycorrhizal Colonization

چکیده
Compost tea is a liquid organic amendment that has been reported to benefit plant growth and performance through positive effects on microbial communities nutrition. However, few studies have demonstrated this for containerized plants produced in tree nurseries. Five common urban species (Acer negundo, Corymbia maculata, Ficus platypoda, Hymenosporum flavum, Jacaranda mimosifolia) were grown experiment investigate the of compost application root mycorrhizal colonization over six months. The composition was also determined with 16S (bacteria) ITS1 (fungi) metabarcoding. No significant effect or observed. Roots all colonized by one type fungi, ectomycorrhizae (ECM), vesicular–arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM). no relationship between percentage detected. Thus, there evidence once-off had benefits trees nursery setting. Further research needed whether any from evident once are planted into landscapes where conditions may be more challenging.

متن کاملGrowth and mycorrhizal colonization of three North American tree species under elevated atmospheric CO # B
We investigated the effect of elevated CO # on the growth and mycorrhizal colonization of three tree species native to north-eastern American forests (Betula papyrifera Marsh., Pinus strobus L. and Tsuga canadensis L. Carr). Saplings of the tree species were collected from Harvard Forest, Massachusetts, and grown in forest soil under ambient (c. 375 ppm) and elevated (700 ppm) atmospheric CO # ...
متن کاملEvolutionary history of prokaryotes: tree or no tree?
Prokaryotes are likely to be the most numerous organisms on the planet 1 , occupying a more diverse set of ecological niches than eukaryotes. Knowledge of prokaryote diversity is severely limited by our inability to recreate the conditions in the laboratory that are needed to cultivate the majority. Discrepancies between direct microscopical counts and the numbers of colony-forming units can be...
